Quickes Red Leicester Cheese Review
Red Leicester is a very crumbly cheddar-like cheese with a mild tang. The main thing distinguishing the cheese is the color, which is created by adding ground annatto seeds. In the old days the color came from carrot juice. Too bad they don't do it that way anymore. Carrot flavored cheese sounds interesting. We tried the version from Quickes Cheese.
The "red" in the name is redundant, as there is no non-red Leicester cheese.
I tried nibbling the cheese, and piling it on chili cheese dogs. Both applications were pretty good. I also tried some cheese on toast and found it to have wonderful melting properties. I'll be making some Welsh rarebit with it later. The cat wasn't a huge fan or Red Leicester and I could only get him to try a couple tiny nibbles after much coaxing.
I'd have to say, with all the wonderful cheese out there, this isn't something I'd try again. The cheese was good, but not great. Although, with the interesting color, it would be an interesting addition to a cheese board.

Clawson Cotswold Double Gloucester Cheese Review
Perhaps reviewing Cotswald as the Double Gloucester [GLOSS-tuhr] cheese in the Monty Python skit is cheating, but so be it. Mr Mousebender doesn't ask for the Double Gloucester sans chives, so I say it counts damn it. We tried the Clawson version.
Cotswold is just Double Gloucester cheese that has chives added. Since Double Gloucester already has a creamy and zesty character, this is a great match. Almost like a really good sliceable cheese spread. Tangy, zesty, creamy, rich. I really liked it.
The cat liked it as well. In fact I'd say this is his favorite cheese.
Double Gloucester has a pretty cool history. There are various traditions involving rolling the cheese around churches and down hills, jumping up and down on the wheels, parading them around town, etc. This came largely from the cheeses leathery rind which made it travel much better. We just got a half pound wedge though, so we didn't get a chance to do any rolling.

Red Windsor Cheese Review
Here's an interesting cheese. Red Windsor is basically a cheddar style cheese with wine mixed in. Ours tasted like it might be port or elderberry wine - rather sweet. I thought it was very yummy, but the cat wouldn't touch it.
One cheese shop told us that they didn't carry the cheese because it wasn't very good. But I don't really understand that. Even if you don't like wine, the flavor was very mild and cheesy. I'd certainly give it a thumbs up, especially if added to a casual cheese board.

The idea that he really likes stinky cheese is wacky.
He does indeed have weird ideas of what's food.
No need for wine glasses... Cheers!
